The Film Emperor’s Daily Live Cooking Broadcast

Chapter 40 - Matters Progress

Ch40 – Matters Progress

Because Ruan Tang’s live broadcast was suspended, public opinion on the star network was even more in a hubbub. Various speculations and conspiracy theories ran rampant. Wei Zhuo kept on jumping to the front line and he even brought out a number of marketing accounts to help add fuel to the flames, continually smearing Ruan Tang’s name. But because Ruan Tang had lived in deep seclusion ever since he transmigrated, they weren’t able to dig up any new materials, and the heat on the star network still slowly began to subside.

When the netizens returned to their sensibilities, that was when they would strike back!

The lawyer He Yun Chen had someone find had already prepared a case. When the time was ripe, he will immediately file a lawsuit against Wei Zhuo and his fans. They will be caught completely off guard. Everything they said on the star network to deliberately distort the facts were carefully recorded. It would be impossible for them to quibble.

As for He Yun Yi, he would also be cooperating. He was ready at any time to release a statement announcing Ruan Tang’s status as consultant for the Academy, rending mute anyone who tries to discredit him.

This time, matters had suddenly blown up. It was obvious that some people deliberately made it so. Ruan Tang’s appearance didn’t just threaten Qi Zhuo’s sole interests. Many people were linked in countless of ways in this matter. There was no end to the number of keyboard warriors who were either green-eyed with envy or who wished for nothing but to stir up trouble.

Finally knowing Ruan Tang’s identity should have been happy news that caused excitement amongst Ruan Tang’s old fans, but they intentionally distorted it with their conspiracy theories. It really made people mad.

The two talked all the way to Ruan Tang’s place.

“Marshal He, have a seat. I’ll cook something up.” He asked the robot butler to bring a pair of slippers to He Yun Chen, and hang his military jacket on the coat rack at the door and finally to take him to the living room to rest.

“Call me by my name, you don’t always have to call me Marshal.”

“Isn’t this…good?” Ruan Tang hesitated. After all, He Yun Chen was a military officer. Ruan Tang had always been a little in awe of him.

He Yun Chen glanced at him. “You call my brother, big brother He.”

The implication is that he can’t be biased towards one and against the other.

He didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. He can’t call He Yun Chen “big brother” anymore. If he met them both at the same time, how could they distinguish who he was referring to?

He thought about it again, “So, I can call you Chen Ge?”

Ruan Tang walked into the kitchen to start cooking. There were pork belly, potatoes and flour at home, so he was going to make a simple potato and diced meat zha jiang mian. There was no doubanjian available but using the sweet bean sauce would also be ok. Anyway, his homemade sweet bean sauce that he had made earlier on had been kept well inside a preservation box.

Soon the potato and diced meat sauce was ready. The color was deep red and glossy, it smelled and looked very appetizing.

Ruan Tang used the well-rested dough to make the noodles. After boiling it in a new pot of water and letting it drip dry, he divided it between two large bowls. With a topping of the steaming hot potato and diced meat sauce, it was done.

Lastly, Ruan Tang made some spinach and egg drop soup. Eating just the noodles would be too dry.

After the spinach was cut, he used hot water to blanch it and remove the oxalic acid from the spinach. When the water in the soup pot began to boil, he put in the spinach, added the salt and soy sauce. After letting it boil again, Ruan Tang slowly stirred the soup in a circle while pouring the beaten eggs. All it took was ten short minutes.

The robot butler, Xiao Bai, took the soup and Ruan Tang took the noodles and they went to the living room together.

“Chen Ge, come and have some noodles.” After setting things on the table, Ruan Tang called out to He Yun Chen who was looking over things on his light brain.

He Yun Chen turned off the light brain, stood up and walked a few steps towards the dinner table. When he saw there were no chopsticks, he went to the kitchen and at the same time asked him, “Where are the chopsticks?”

Ruan Tang told him where to find it. He Yun Chen took two pairs, one for each of them and then sat opposite Ruan Tang.

After mixing the noodles and sauce well, the taste was amazing. Amidst the savory sweet taste was a hint of spiciness. Although there was a lot of meat, it wasn’t at all greasy. The potatoes were soft and the noodles had ample bite. It suited He Yun Chen’s taste perfectly and before he knew it he had polished off a whole large bowl.

“Would you like some more?” Seeing He Yun Chen had finished his, Ruan Tang asked him.

“En.” At first, He Yun Chen thought of refusing, but in the end he was no match for the enticement of good food and he still nodded his head.

Ruan Tang gave him another bowl. After the two were full, they continued to discuss the past investigations about the loss of memory.

According to the current investigation, He Yun Chen only knew that he came to the Empire’s main planet by himself more than ten years ago. Before that, he should have lived in a relatively remote planet in the empire. Personal information was sparse and there was virtually no records about his family.

At that time, he was only 26 years old. Because of his outstanding appearance, he was immediately scouted by the entertainment company. He had already signed with them before he was even an adult. After two years of training, he officially made his debut. From some small characters, he slowly made his way up to supporting roles, then to the male lead number two or three then finally to the main lead. How much hardship and difficulties he must have gone through were off the record.

He Yun Chen tried to investigate the owner of the account to whom Ruan Tang made the monthly payments, but because the empire placed great importance in the privacy of its citizens, the registration information of the account was kept secret. Even as a marshal, without any proper reason, He Yun Chen had no way of attaining this information without stepping beyond the bounds of his authority.

Therefore, He Yun Chen could only investigate according to the transfer records provided by Ruan Tang. These transfers could be traced back to fifteen years ago, that is, from when he was just starting out as a newcomer. What’s more, the more earned, he larger the amount he transferred.

One who appeared to be a glamorous film emperor in the eyes of others, had actually just been renting this small one-bedroom apartment for all these years. It was enough to make people cry.

Bitterest of all was when he had just wrested the crown of film emperor, when his future was at its brightest, he had met with an accident. Because he had suffered a severe blow to the head leading to him falling into a coma, Ruan Tang lost all means to fend for himself. Not only did he have to regularly undergo treatment just to maintain his life, he also needed to soak in restorative liquid for a long time. Fortunately, his company was still very kind, and had helped him with the cost of his treatment, otherwise, who knows if he would have made it through those five years! However, his savings were still being quickly drained until there was almost none left and because of his five year absence from the entertainment scene, his prospects looked bleak. After all, the entertainment industry was flourishing, countless newcomers were making their debuts every day. With how there had been no news of Ruan Tang for five years, few people still remembered him.

After leaving the hospital, his account only had 200 GM coins. If it weren’t for his excellent cooking skills that let him successfully become a food anchor, who knows where he would have ended up.

“I will continue to investigate, and I will inform you when there’s news.” He Yun Chen looked at the time, and since it was already getting on in the hour, he prepared to take his leave.

“Okay, sorry to trouble you and big brother He.” He also followed him to stand up.

“It’s nothing.” He Yun Chen got up and put on his coat.

At this time, Ruan Tang took out a preservation box stuffed with Zha Jiang Mian.

A look of surprise flashed past He Yun Chen’s eyes he was about to thank him, when he heard Ruan Tang say, “You can give this to Big Brother He when you get home.”

He Yun Chen: “…… En.”

The expression on his face suddenly became cold. He nodded and after finding out what time Ruan Tang was going to be at the headquarters tomorrow for the lessons, left Ruan Tang’s home.

He Yun Chen had just left when He Yun Yi’s call came through.

“We’ve finished making that tofu that you asked for! But we have made several kinds here. We don’t know if any of these fits your requirements. When are you free to come over and see?” The efficiency of the Academy was really amazing. How long has it just been? And already it’s done.

“Really? That’s great!” Ruan Tang was pleasantly surprised. “But I’m not free the next two days. Why don’t you send me the samples at home?”

“Not free?” He Yun Yi’s voice revealed his surprise.

It was clear that he had no live broadcasts, so how could he not be free?

Ruan Tang had no choice but to tell him about how he had promised to help He Yun Chen with the military dining hall and about accepting the six apprentices.

“Then that’s okay.” He Yun Yi hadn’t thought that it was his own brother that had cut him off. He Yun Yi’s tone then turned joking and asked, “You didn’t make anything for dinner today?”

This was his roundabout way of freeloading for food. They really were brothers, they both love to eat.

Ruan Tang smiled and said, “I made potato and diced meat noodles today. When Chen Ge left, I asked him to bring you your share.”

“Chen Ge?” On the other end of the line, He Yun Yi raised his eyebrows and revealed a smile. “Tang Tang, could it be that you like our A’Chen?”

Ruan Tang didn’t understand why he asked, so he simply answered, “En, I think Chen Ge’s very cute–I mean, reliable.”

There came an ambiguous “Oh” from He Yun Yi, “Then that’s alright. I will send you the things tomorrow. Oh, and the sweet bean sauce, chili sauce, and salad dressing that you made before are now being sold on the shopping site. The taste is a little bit different from the one you personally made, but it’s still pretty good. Especially the chili sauce, the sales for this is quite good.”

“That’s great.” Ruan Tang then told He Yun Yi about the gelatin and other things. In any case, he would jot down what came to mind and then later discuss it with the Academy for them to prepare to research.

Sure enough, He Yun Yi was very interested. He asked in detail about the general structure and function of the oven, as well as the role and effect of the gelatin. He immediately made preparations to study these.

“About the matters on Weibo, we can start counterattacking tomorrow. You can wait for our good news.”

“Okay, thank you for all your hard work, Big Brother He.” The two men talked a little more and ended the call.
